Insomnia
I think I suffer from insomnia.

Googling for the term “insomnia”, the first hit I get is this. Reading through the article, it seems like I have all four of the symptoms signifying insomnia... Let's see:

  • difficulty falling asleep;
    Despite having slept for less than 4 hrs last night, here I am, blogging instead of catching up on precious sleep.

  • waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep;
    Frequent occurrences of waking up around 1 plus, 2 am for no reason, fully awake. Unable to go back to sleep till 4/5 am, which by then, is only a couple of hours from my normal wake up time at 630am. (Why I even bother going back to sleep, I have no idea. -.-;; )

  • waking up too early in the morning;
    See previous symptom. Sometimes I don't get back to sleep at all, and 1/2 am is considered early in the morning, isn't it?

  • unrefreshing sleep.
    With the previous 3 symptoms attacking me all at once, it's really no wonder that the few winks I manage to catch is unrefreshing, eh?

Possible causes of my insomnia? Hmmm... since this has been going on for more than a few months, I assume my case is considered chronic. According to the article, "It can be caused by many things and often occurs along with other health problems. Common causes of chronic insomnia are depression, chronic stress, and pain or discomfort at night."

Hey hey! I don't have depression... I don't think so anyway. I might be a little... morbid, at times, but depressed? Nah... don't think so.

And let's rule out pain and discomfort first, cos obviously I don't sleep in armour nor on a needle bed, so where's the pain and discomfort gonna come from?

Chronic stress? Most probably. Thinking of going to work is enough to cause me stress. Thinking of the load of mission impossible work waiting for me definitely causes me stress. Remedy? Toss in my resignation letter and go on my merry way. Maybe then my uninterrupted sleep will decide to reunite with its long lost owner. Sounds simple, isn't it? Unfortunately, I'm currently chained to my company by the feet and the key to freedom is a few thousand grand, which I absolutely, absolutely, refuse to part with. >.<;;

Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. I probably should try to follow those good sleep habits stated in the article, maybe they'll help me. Then again, I have a hunch they won't.

Bleargh.

All I'm asking for is a good night's sleep, is that so difficult to achieve??
