A Place of My Own
Over the last weekend, I had just finalised and signed for the biggest purchase I've ever had. My very own place!
Unfortunately, we can only get our hands on it at the end of the year.
But, nevermind, this will give me more time to research on renovations and decor. Actually, I think The Chosen One is more interested in decor than I am. He even bought magazines.... O_o
After months of search, viewing so many places, we have finally found a place we both liked. I remembered there was one place I viewed that was so run down that thinking about the renovation cost was enough to give me heart palpitations. Not to mention is was situated on the third floor and was a walkup. There was also another place which the agent said was in move in condition. Yeah, right. Move in after you have finished the renovations condition is more likely. I liked another place before settling on this one. But that one was a low floor, walk up, and facing a school. Thinking about the noise gave me second thoughts....
Of course there was compromise in searching for our place. I like high floors, The Chosen One like lift levels, but I was willing to give up the high floor option. One thing we both agreed was: minimal renovations.
In the end, this one we both liked was on a higher floor, in great condition, especially the flooring, on a lift level, and I loved it on first sight.
But I am gearing up for more arguments and compromise once we get renovations and furnishing underway. My colleague has already given me an account of her experience. Seems that she was the type that if she liked it, price was reasonable, she will get it. Her husband, on the other hand, loved to spend hours walking around the same few shop making sure he had the best bargain available.
I think (maybe hope?) both The Chosen One and I have similar values. It will really cut down on arguments and wasting time.
