    Baby Steps into Debthood
Today, we confirmed the biggest purchase of our lives.

If all goes well, we will be home owners by mid January 2007.

Compared to other first time home owners, our process took longer than most.
    First, was paperwork.
Due to my special circumstances, our first appointment was delayed one week while I tried to gather all the required documents that HDB required.
When we finally went to our first appointment today, we were told by the HDB officer, who happens to be a very nice guy, that our sellers took a bank loan previously.
In the end, our process will take longer than 6 weeks because more parties (in other words, lawyers) are involved.

We wanted to get our hands as quickly as possible on our new house because of the GST increase.
Our renovation and furniture is going to cost more now.
    Damn it.

At least the HDB officer looked optimistic on our chances for HDB grant.
$40K is not a small amount.
I really really hope that it can be approved....

And I also saw for myself organisations' love for paperwork.
    I signed so many forms.
I even signed a form that said I was taking some copies back.
    That is rather excessive.

J, I know your pain. Kel and I had to sign sooooo many documents when we got our place. Purchase, loan, etc ... PLUS, all the documents were either in duplicate or triplicate! Arrrghh!!! *hand cramp*

Hey, at least you didn't incur the extra GST on your home purchase! :)

Hope you get the 40k grant!

    Hahaha!
    Yah! They love signed documents.
I signed so many with the Agent, and so many more with HDB.

BTW, the one u got, it's along Serangoon Road?
I think it's between my old place and the Serangoon Broadway Bridal.
    hee hee
