What's in a name?
I was surfing one of my favourite forums Flowerpod when I came across these two links. http://www.chriswetherell.com/elf/ http://www.chriswetherell.com/hobbit/
It seems that these two are my names in Elvish and Hobbit. Elvish name : Nerwen Fëfalas Hobbit name : Marigold Overhill of Nobottle
I think elvish sounds a whole lot better.
Wedding Bells
I've been seriously slacking, as proven by how long ago my last blog entry is. Today's entry will be a dairy of sorts, chronicling what interesting stuff I have been up to in the last few days, I mean weeks.
After seeing my friends left and right getting invited to wedding dinners, I thought I had a really limited social circle since no one is in a hurry to send me invites. Then I got hit by not one, but TWO invites on the SAME weekend! One is on a Saturday and the other, on a Sunday.
I had to attend the dinner on Saturday alone. Since The Husband does not know the bride, and my invitation did not include my partner. I could have brought him actually, since most of the people sitting at my table decided to do disappearing acts and not turn up at all, but The Husband was actually only flying back from Hong Kong that very evening. Well I got a lot of presents from his little trip but that’s another story.
Saturday’s dinner was…unexpected. First was the venue, which was at some ulu place. When I stepped in, the first thing I noticed was the tables and chairs, which were like those in Malaysian restaurants. Then I noticed the stage. There was a live band on it! I know some rich people can afford those orchestra/violin-playing type bands but this one was like a 7th month Ge Tai band. The name of the band was “Feng Yun” (direct translation: Wind Cloud) seem to sum it all up. Singers started appearing and they sang songs mostly in Hokkien and Chinese. And the girls were dressed sexily in short skirts, tight tops and shaking really vigorously. I actually saw some old uncles, probably grandfathers, taking their cameras and recording them down. The MC spoke Hokkien throughout and I couldn’t really understand what he was saying. Yeah, my dialect sucks. To top it all off, I saw an auntie going table to table selling Big Sweep tickets. I was half expecting to see the blind man with his companion selling tissues next. So, being the naughty delinquent that I am, I and two of my friends sneaked off after the 4th course. But one thing that impressed me was the quality of the food. First course featured a lobster salad; the standard second course of shark’s fin had huge pieces! And then there was a whole roasted suckling pig! That is rarer than a rare spawn in EQ2. But the food still didn’t make up for the fact that barely dressed Ge Tai singers were belting their hearts out on the stage.
In comparison, the wedding dinner I attended on Sunday (this time with The Husband) seemed boring and oh so typical in comparison. So typical that I just realized there’s not much to blog about it. But the good point (so good that it overrides any bad points) is that I didn’t leave the dinner with a splitting headache from all the noise pollution.
Do not ask when mine is going to be. Unless you would like to donate to our Wedding Preparation Fund, which is so empty and neglected, then your questions are more than welcomed!
We just celebrated another birthday~ So how do you feel hitting the big three Silvermist? Thinking back on the mini celebration, the one memory that comes to the top of my mind was the birthday cake. Rich and sinful: Banana Chocolate Expresso cake.
With the exception of cheesecakes, I do not really like cakes. Even with ice cream cakes, I end up eating the ice cream and leaving the cake behind. What happens during birthday celebrations of friends is this: I will take a bite or two of the cake and stuff the remainder to The Husband. I love to feed The Husband any leftovers from my plate and he would to eat them all. Then I will tease him about gaining weight and so recently he’s stopped eating my leftovers. Boo.
But this cake was divine.
*Gets a big lemming for Banana Chocolate Expresso cake*
I have to get the name of the cake shop and the address from Sheylara.
