My new Baby
Collected our new car yesterday!
It's cute, red and I have already planted my strawberry tissue box into the car! It matches the car perfectly!
Actually I haven't drove the car yet. That's because I haven't drove in 4 months and I am feeling not confident of myself at all. Well, I probably have to change that soon.
We went to do our picture selection today. The Chosen One never did wanted to spend much money on topping up photos. But somehow after looking through the 340 pictures, he reversed his decision and topped up...$2750....
I wanted to ask Eric Khor on what his charges for framing smaller pictures are but decided to keep quiet after The Chosen One's decision. Maybe I will ask him the next time we see him for picture layout.
Weekends
So busy recently.
Today, an old friend asked me what have I been doing these few weekends, and all I could think was, buy bathroom accessories, buy kitchen accessories, buy furniture and electrical items, wait for them to arrive, get people to measure our windows to make curtains....
Even my birthday was spent this way.
Today is not an exception. I just blew more than $2000 on mattress, bits of pieces of furniture and beddings.
Tomorrow will the same. The curtain makers will be hanging the curtains up tomorrow and I have to pay the balance of about $1500.
I've already started to move some boxes into our new place but I have to wipe all the shelves before I can unpack.
There are still a lot of things that are not packed yet and we have to move in officially very soon. So much things to do, so little time to do them.
And...work has been killer for the past 2 months. I just take a look at my backlog and shudder. Sometimes I try to pretend it doesn't exist. ;)
Ok! Enough whining and on to the things I have been experimenting with recently.
I have been putting on makeup a lot recently. Everyday without fail will be my powder, blusher and lipgloss. If I have a little more time, sometimes simple eyeshadow.
But if I'm going out, I will pull out my eyeliners, eyelash curler and mascara. I love MAC's fluidline but I'm still not very good at controlling it. And I am now in love with MAC's plushglass...I want more....
What I did on my holiday.
Actually it's what I did on my one day of leave today.
We finally had our photoshoot today.
It was postponed for 1 week because our photographer, Eric Khor of Studio Sago was booked by another couple for a photoshoot in Bali. In fact, he will be flying off to Thailand with another couple tomorrow.
We had already collected all my gowns and The Chosen One's suit on Saturday from The Wedding Present. Luckily when I called Eric, he was in his studio so I asked to bring the clothes to his studio directly from The Wedding Present, which he agreed. We had already met him one week before to discuss places where we will be having our photoshoot. Talking to him is very easy. He is enthusiastic, approachable and friendly, suggesting places and angles which he can take, places where he would like to take.
Because of his enthusiasm, we ended up in places where we never thought we would go.
We were in his studio 15 minutes before the appointed time at 10 am. Since my make up artist wasn't there yet, we took a light breakfast with Eric at a nearby coffeeshop and made small talk. As I said, he's very easy to talk to and we felt very comfortable with him.
When we returned to his studio, my makeup artist came shortly and I had to be sitted in the chair for about an hour to get ready. In the meantime, Eric played "I, Robot" on his TV screen and The Chosen One was glued to it. But he managed to watch only half of it. Hee hee.
Since sitting for one hour is rather boring, I started chatting with my makeup artist. Her name is Shu Huan and she's a freelancer and has quite a lot of experience. Especially with Mediacorp artists. And...she knows Qiaoyun! Small world!
I really had a lot of firsts today. I put on false eye lashes for the first time. I thought they looked weird and although they look fine in pictures, I still think they look a bit too much for everyday life.
I learned a few things about taking photos today. All the so called natural poses are not very natural at all. But it was quite interesting to take pictures where you are not expected to look at the camera and smile.
There were times where I had to jump or twirl, other times where I had to stand still and look serious. The Chosen One was even given a toy gun. But he felt stupid holding it. I lost count on the number of times we had to kiss or almost kiss. The Chosen One even had to carry me...and unfortunately, I never did manage to go on a diet before the photoshoot.
We spent about 3 hours in his studio taking all sorts of shorts with all sorts of backgrounds. White, grey, black, orange...using his mirror, lying on the floor.... He took around 270 shots in his studio alone. Even after he deletes all the shots which we blinked, or looked weird, there's still quite a number of shots.
By the time we left his studio, it was after 2 pm. I had to leave the studio in my wedding gown with veil attached and I drew a lot of stares. It's only to be expected. We had to take lunch and so...another first in my life.
Walking into Pizzahut and having lunch there in my wedding gown.
We went to Kent Ridge Park after lunch and the sun was out in full force. We were melting after a while in the sun. Eric has a signature shot which he loves to use. He set up a make shift swing using a plank of wood and 2 thick ropes and threw these ropes over a tree branch. We had to sit on the swing and he would give lots of instructions on what kind of shots he was looking for. It was during this trip to Kent Ridge Park that my white gown became very dirty. My shoes were in bad shape too. Speaking of which, I have to find a way to clean them.
After that, we were supposed to go to Goodwood Park but he made a slight detour led us to another place in Pasir Panjang to take some shots. Everytime I stepped out of the car, I could feel myself perspiring instantly. It was that hot.
When we finally reach Goodwood park, it was already 530 pm. Time really passed quickly.
It was in Goodwood Park that I changed to my more casual tea dress after taking the required shots in my wedding gown. Shu Huan gave me some instructions to let down my hair and I tried taking the pins out. I was halfway through when I noticed that my hair was starting to look messy. My hair was down and I used the bobby pins to pin the sides of my hair so I did not look like a mad woman and I thought I did pretty well.
It was at this point we started to take more adventurous shots.
Posing in the middle of the pedestrian crossing between Wheelock and Orchard MRT is no joke. Walking across the pedestrian crossing and looking backwards periodically is plain weird. Stopping at the middle of the pedestrian crossing for a kiss (and a shot) is weird. People stared. When they realised there was a camera at the end of the pedestrian crossing, people siamed.
Running across the pedestrian crossing between Wheelock and Shaw House drew quite a lot of stares too. Especially from the drivers of the cars at the red light.
Standing still for seconds for Eric so he can take shots of us with blurred people walking about. Standing still and kissing for seconds so Eric can take the same type of shots again.
By the time we were done, I was seriously tired. I felt the startings of a headache and I knew I was dehydrated. But we still had to return to Studio Sago to gather the stuff we had left there. Luckily, when I called The Wedding Present when we were leaving studio Sago around 740 pm, Mel was still there so we went over and returned all the gowns and accessories we borrowed. My wedding gown was seriously dirty by the end of the day.
I was just happy that we didn't have to come back another day to return all the stuff. There is quite a lot of things and they are very bulky.
By the end of the day, I felt that I can never get cool again. I was sticky and tired and hungry. But now back home after my dinner and a cool shower, I'm starting to feel human again.
Did we have fun? Oddly, yes! Will I do it again? Not in the near future...but if I had the chance again, I probably would!
Finally!
After a long long wait of more than a year, my favourite music group finally released their latest album. Why do talented people that write great music take so long?
It may come as a shock to a lot of people that my all time favourite is actually Linkin Park. I like Jay Chou, but not all the songs. Somehow, I tend to find his ballads a tad boring for me.
When I heard and saw the MTV for In the End, I was a fan. Till today, it remains one of my favourite songs. I just can't seem to get tired listening to it.
When Reanimation was released, it was the same album, yet different. Reanimation was basically a remixed version of their first album Hybrid Theory. Some complained that after a long wait, what Linkin Park came out with was an album full of remixes? But I liked Reanimation a lot. On one hand, it was the same tunes, same songs, but yet Linkin Park managed to give it a totally different flavour and feel. For some songs, I actually preferred the remixed version a lot more.
I just finished listening to their latest album Minutes to Midnight. I have to applaud their effort. Once again, it has a very different feel compared to their last two albums. But somehow, it is still Linkin Park.
They were here in Singapore once. Unfortunately, I missed their open air concert. If they were to do another worldwide tour and have a stop in Singapore again, I will definitely drag The Chosen One this time.
Long time no see....
Stopped updating for a long while and Rena did comment that since she relied on my blog for updates in my life, she's not very sure what I'm up to recently.
;p
So many things happened. My house renovation is done...official move in date is June 9, which is an auspicious date. The Chosen One wanted to move in any day and it was a good thing I made him check with Mum. She immediately went off to consult a fortune teller for a date. He didn't believe me that Mum would want to choose a date.
Overall, I had a good experience with my renovator and poor hubby has to do most of the co-ordination and homework. My weekends were filled with bathroom accessories shopping, light shopping, furniture shopping.... These things add up and cost a bomb. And till now, ou place is still missing bits of furniture here and there.
I have not really met the neighbours but I did meet the neighbours' pets. Next door is a very cute and lovely Sheltie. But it barks everytime it hears or sees us. The neighbour next to Sheltie house has a beautiful orange cat which my sister thinks is a Scottish Fold, with standing ears.
We nicknamed it Garfield.
First time we saw Garfield, it was sitting outside our gate looking in. Same thing the second time we saw it. The third time, it decided to take a tour of our kitchen. Once it noticed me, it scooted out of our place. The last time we saw it, just last weekend, it was sitting outside our gate and looking in again. Once I move in, I'm gonna bribe it with catnip. :D
I finally have my braces out. But now I have to faithfully put on the retainer...which I have not been doing. What can I say, I snack a lot! >_<
And...we finally got our own car. We just signed, or rather, The Chosen One just signed on the dotted line. Once loan is approved, we may get our car as soon as three weeks later. A little scared, a little freaked, but yet so excited.
I Can't Wait.
