IF YOU'RE CHOKING ON AN ICE CUBE, SIMPLY POUR A CUP OF BOILING WATER DOWN YOUR THROAT. PRESTO! THE BLOCKAGE WILL INSTANTLY REMOVE ITSELF.

2. AVOID CUTTING YOURSELF WHEN SLICING VEGETABLES BY GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO HOLD THE VEGETABLES WHILE YOU CHOP.

3. A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROL LING OVER AND GOING BACK TO SLEEP AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON.

6. IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH, TAKE A LARGE DOSE OF LAXATIVES. THEN YOU'LL BE AFRAID TO COUGH.

7. YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

8. REMEMBER - EVERYONE SEEMS NORMAL UNTIL YOU GET TO KNOW THEM.

9. And I really really suck at some of the mini games!
Without the high score, I cannot earn my missing cards! Arrrggghhhhh!

Why I need to collect cards is because the boss battles are card duels, a little like Magic the Gathering but more simplified.
I think The Chosen One will like it.

I drove myself to the Singapore Post Office in Paya Lebar today.
And I drove myself back without much difficulty (except for the slight detour because of a wrong turn...I almost ended up in the Airplane Museum or something. The road was totally empty lor.)
I am so proud of myself.

Today is the first time I drove to the post office because usually I will bat my eyelashes at The Chosen One and ask him to send me there because I don't know the way.

As The Chosen One is still not back in Singapore yet, I have to drive there myself, so take a cab.
Since I have been cutting my cab expenditure to the bare minimum, I figured I better try to drive myself there.
I thought if I got lost, a bunch of friends phones will start ringing only mah.

I am such a direction idiot.
The only places I know how to go is a pathetic short list.
1) Home to Work / Work to Home
2) Home/Work to Orchard / Orchard to Home
3) Work to Vivo

And now, another new item, Home to Post Office!
LOL!
I sound so pathetic. :p

I know someone is definitely going to say I am super pampered lor.

Funny scene I witnessed yesterday:
Little niece crying because her playmate has gone back to his house. Mum-in-law is carrying her and she's crying loudly.
Suddenly she paused in her crying, stretched her little hand to Mum-in-law's bag, grabbed a tissue, resumed crying while bringing the tissue to her eyes.
Little actress.

Missing him....

I am missing my baby....

And I am going to be thoroughly miserable until he is back home safely.

The worst is always at bedtime, in the room, in the big empty bed.
Now, only the shirotans are keeping me company.

Although we haven't been keeping the same bedtime recently, knowing he is in the house still makes me contented.
But for this period that he is away, I have to sleep alone and wake up alone.

I am definitely spoiled and I want my baby back soon.

That chequebook doesn't mean free money

Wow!
I just blogged yesterday and I'm blogging again!

I just got a rude shock when I opened my mail today.
I am being billed $60 for an account I didn't even want!
I remember specifically not ticking the box for cash plus when I applied for my credit card.

Luckily, after a 15 min wait on the phone, I got the customer service officer and she agreed to waive the annual fee and close the account.
If that didn't happen....

I hate shocks like that.

No...come to think of it, I hate even more shocks of receiving a credit card bill of 1k and realising that I did spend 1k the last month.
Already, I am anticipating this will happen the next month because of a little purchase that will be happening on the end of this month.
If all goes well (or perhaps not well?), I will have a want fulfilled.

Speaking of wants, I find I have a very very bad habit of fulfilling wants.
And when I mean fulfilling wants, I mean fulfilling them immediately, now, pronto, asap.
You get the drift.

For this behaviour, I blame...err...the society! Yes! The Society!
It's because we are taught to satisfy our needs and wants. That Instant Gratification is normal!
(As you can see, it's a load of crap but I'm trying to blame something, someone, other then myself.)

The little niece is growing up so fast.
She seems bigger everytime I see her.

I'm Baaaacck!!!

The sad truth is...I have nothing to do.

The even sadder truth is...there's so many things I wanna do but I just
a) can't do them right now
b) don't feel like doing them

I can't play AOC because the computer died.
The Chosen One has promised me a new computer when he is back but I don't really want him spending all that money.
I can't really play Rock Band because the songs are so hard right now. You can keep it. It will still retain value and since it's leather, it's not a bad buy!"

Angel immediately pulled her away and told her, "Think of the amount of bags you can buy with the money! You can buy so much more things!"

So over dinner, little miss spendthrift continued internally debating while Devil and Angel offered differing views.
Then Angel's fiance appeared and immediately asked little miss spendthrift on where's the expensive designer bag. Hasn't she bought it yet?

After a 2 hour debate, little miss spendthrift went home empty-handed.
When little miss spendthrift's Darling Hubby (DH) heard that she did not return with the bag, boy, was he surprised.
After all, in the morning, little miss spendthrift had asked for his opinion on how would he feel if she returned with that expensive bag, his response was a rather calm "don't make it a habit ok?"

(When Devil and Angel heard about DH's words, jaws dropped.)

But little miss spendthrift cannot stop thinking about the bag.
She debated and debated and asked for so many people's opinions.
She thought of whether she was wasting money and whether she can take care of the bag.
So over the weekend she thought hard.

On Monday night, Devil sent her a message, "I saw someone carrying the bag today!", little miss spendthrift thought so hard, but still she cannot make a decision.

Finally the next day, a Tuesday, which happened to be little miss spendthrift's birthday (don't ask how old is she), she received messages from both Devil and Angel.
Basically, they were wishing her a happy birthday and may the bag drop out of the sky into her hands.

As you can see, this Angel is more of a Fallen Angel at times.

Darling Husband brought his little miss spendthrift out on her birthday. Bringing her to eat a yummy lunch and a nice little walk to look at her favourite toys in Orchard.
Little miss spendthrift did not find any new toys to entice her while her DH broke something in that shop and went off to pay for it. Luckily, it costs less than $10.

Then they went to their favourite bookstore. After browsing and finding nothing much in the bookstore, DH brought her to have a cup of coffee and rest their weary feet.

All the while, little miss spendthrift though hard....while her Angel and Devil messaged her nonstop.

In fact, Angel ended off with this message (in the exact words):

Err... K lah... Just buy as a bday gift plus hard work reward for yourself ;-)

Sometimes, little miss spendthrift wonders at the friends she has.

DH asked little miss spendthrift to show him the bag. So off to the shop they went.
DH thought the bag wasn't anything special before laying his eyes on it. But after seeing it, he agreed that it is very beautiful.

But little miss spendthrift still cannot make up her mind!

She thought so hard, pondered so long that her DH made her an offer.

"Why not I buy you the bag and you do all the housework in future?"

Of course, it was a no go.

But he persisted.

"That doesn't mean you will do housework forever, because when we hire a maid, you won't have to do housework again!"

But little miss spendthrift would not accept his offer.

Finally, little miss spendthrift made up her mind.

She will get the bag.

She went into the boutique, held the bag and looked in the mirror.
The size was just nice for her. The colour is one of her favourites (pink). She love the style and design a lot. She likes the brand. In fact, she has a pair of sunglasses by them.
And so she decided, and asked for a new piece.

The salesman immediately checked on stock availability and told her that there were 2 pieces left.
He went into the store and brought out a pristine piece.
She handed over her credit card and signed for the bag (don't worry, it's actually a debit card).

And all the while, her DH was whispering to her that he can still pay for the bag if she will do all the housework in future.

And the bag is hers.

It's now sitting in the dust bag, in the paper bag, in her closet right now because she can't bear to open it up and start using it.

Little miss spendthrift has to clear her work cupboard first, create a space for her bag to sit on, then will she bring it to work.

She now has 2 Coach bags, 1 Coach wristlet, 1 Coach skinny, 2 Burberry Blue Label bags, 1 Juicy Couture Bag, 1 Miu Miu Sunglasses and her latest acquisition: Miu Miu Bow Satchel in Mughetto.

Little miss spendthrift also has another burberry blue label wallet that will be coming to her as her birthday present from her friends that include Angel and Devil.

Little miss spendthrift really hopes that she will stop eyeing designer labels for a long long time.

The more I earn....

The more expensive are the things I eye.

Someone, kill my lemming please!

And...it's my birthday in half an hour!

A very happy birthday to me! Home cooked food is always a draw.
4) The last time I checked this blog, it was down and I though it's gone, finished, no longer available. Thanks Ely for the palette!

A japanese fast food place that you have to choose and pay your meal on a vending machine and the kitchen will prepare the food (just like japan!). Cute but food isn't great. Furthermore, they asked The Chosen One to leave even though his drink was three quarters full. Will definitely not go back again.

The usual nephews putting up the lion dance performance on Chinese New Year has now upgraded to a bigger lion!

I will be faced with more challenges in work this year.

Going Bintan on the coming weekend. I like florals but I do not like rose at all.
That one gives me a headache.

In the past, I never did like perfumes because of my sensitive nose. Almost all perfumes made me sneeze.
In the recent years, the nose has stopped complaining, mostly, and in the process, one of my favourite thing to do now is wandering about the perfume aisle in departmental stores and look at pretty bottles.
Note that I mention look and not smell.
The nose tends to shut down after 3 different scents.

My first perfume was Issey Miyake. I have not finished it and it's still in my cupboard....

But I only started in the past 2-3 years to really start buying scents.

I love Curious by Britney Spears, for both the scent and the bottle.
My next love was Princess by Vera Wang, especially the bottle, so sweet!
The next to catch my short attention span was Stella in Two. The bottle isn't so cute this time.
Then Daisy by Marc Jacobs. I love love love this scent and wore it without fail for 2-3 months.
But today, Secret Wish by Anna Sui is taking over the crown as my beloved scent. I kept smelling pineapple on myself today. =)

I only got Secret Wish because the shop in Chinatown was selling it cheaply and I like the bottle.
If not, I think I would never have discovered how much I like this scent on myself!
I forsee my current 30 ml bottle finishing fast and I would have to buy the biggest bottle available.

Yes, I do judge perfumes by their bottles.
I tend to test out a new perfume only because it looks cute.

Speaking of bottles, I also started to collect miniature perfume bottles.
The collection's kinda small right now but I hope to expand it.

Is anyone going to contribute to my collection?

Pink City Update II

I just added a new item to my pink collection.

Sony W580i in Pink!

To be exact, the colour stated on the box is Metro Pink.

At this rate, I only need the pink psp slim and pink sony camera to become a true blue...errrr...I mean true pink Sony Fan Girl.

Pink City Update

I have with me my really pink mouse. Razer Proclick!
All thanks to Unker Kel that I can get my mouse! Weee!

The Chosen One got it to sync with my Pink Vaio and now it's a matched pair!
Unfortunately, my Vaio does not have a pink cover. I got the white one from Soy instead.
We were at the retailer and both The Chosen One and I agree that getting a pink cover will result in pink overload.

So now I have a pink DS Lite, a pink laptop and a pink mouse!

But for some weird reason, I don't have much pink clothes. My colour of choice recently is grey, red and black. Hmmm....

Speaking of colours, I hate tests where they ask you to choose your favourite colour because I always like all the colours they have listed!

Errmm, back to pink city.
I have just changed my quilt cover to pink too!

The Chosen One must be happy that I did not insist on a pink room.

I want a Rabbit!

I want a rabbit!

And not any rabbit.

I want this rabbit!

Bill Gates' CES 2008 address

CES 2008.
What would Bill Gates' last day be like?

Like this?

And to top it off, Bill Gates plays Guitar Hero III!

Somehow, I can't imagine Microsoft without Bill Gates.

We ran out of....

I quite like the food of a certain Japanese Fast Food place except that I encountered a couple of rather silly incidents at their outlets lately.

Incident One
The Chosen One and I decided to have dinner their. We got our seats rather quickly and it's a little odd, considering that it's dinner time and they have very little tables so that we can't usually waltz in and there are empty seats.
It's all made clear soon when The Chosen One went to order and came back telling me that they have ran out of bread.
It's a burger place and they ran out of bread...wow....
And at dinner time...wow....

Incident Two
Another day, we decided to have lunch at a different outlet. The Chosen One ordered away and this time, they didn't run out of bread.
They ran out of change instead.
So The Chosen One got a receipt with some words scribbled on which said that he could get his change back later when they have change.
This is an outlet at the heart of the shopping district and they managed to run out of change. And it's not for just a few cents. We are talking about tens of dollars here.

Since we are on the topic of food, I had dinner at Dempsey Hill last night.
We chose a place where the ambiance was good but it was right next to the "forest". The food was OK...but the company was good.
Until at one point Ms QY jumped from her seat and ran away. Since I was opposite her, I wondered what's wrong like did I sprout a gigantic pimple suddenly and that's when I noticed a cockroach-like insect on the Goonfather's napkin. Back went my seat when The Chosen One was asking where's the cockroach.
Goonfather saw it and made to cover the insect with the other end of his napkin when The Chosen One threw his napkin over it.
Goonfather, not wanting to lose out, threw his end over it as well.
Then The Chosen One went "BAM!" by hammering once on the spot where the cockroach was last seen.
And the Goonfather, again not wanting to miss out, went "BAM BAM BAM BAM!' by slapping his hands over the napkins a lot of times.

If the cockroach was still alive, maybe it should go by 4D or Toto.

After that scene, we had the attention of all the tables and servers around us. Everyone was still staring at that pile of napkins when a server whisked it away.

Perhaps the people arounf us thought we were having a fight?

Download woes

I've been trying to download this game called Fiesta since yesterday.
For some weird reason, my connection is just so slow that the estimated time is between 8 hours to 11 hours.
I am kidding...not.
Erwin took only 1 hour to download lor!

At first, The Chosen One says it's because I'm downloading via wireless and wireless is always slower.
So off I flounced to the desktop and tried downloading from there.
Hmm...yup, it's faster. Estimated downloading time is between 7 hours to 9 hours.

So now the desktop is merrily downloading while I'm using the laptop to do my other stuff, like blogging.

Fiesta, according to Erwin, is a cross between WoW and Maple Story. WoW because of the 3D environment and Maple because of all the virtual items you can buy for the avatar.
I think it may be a bad idea for me to try this game. I did spend money on Maple Story....

And furthermore, where am I going to find the time to play it?
I'm at the last stages of Zelda and I still have not started on Chocobo Tales and there's also Final Fantasy XII and there's a lot more games to play on my NDS.
And and and Folklore and and and Guitar Heroes and and and I'm waiting for Dynasty Warriors and Final Fantasy XIII....

At this rate, I need to clone myself just to play games.
